Behaviour Therapist Assistants support clients in everyday life
As a BTA, I work directly with clients to help them navigate everyday activities in the community. This could involve anything from going grocery shopping and attending social events to participating in hobbies and building essential life skills.
During these outings I provide support and guidance to help manage behaviours and ensure a positive experience. This may involve preparing clients for new experiences, building confidence, and reinforcing positive behaviours so they can interact effectively in social situations.
Growth and Learning
Working at Kevria has not only been rewarding in terms of helping others but has also fostered immense personal growth for myself. I have gained valuable experience in:
- Understanding and managing different behaviours: Through working with a diverse range of clients, I have learned effective strategies to manage and understand complex behaviours. This has been invaluable in developing patience, empathy, and a deeper understanding of individual needs.
- Responding to challenging situations: The role requires navigating unexpected situations, and this has honed my ability to respond with calmness and empathy. It taught me to find solutions that benefit both my clients and the situation.
